In view of the balance of forces in the class struggle in Britain, the building of a Communist Party of the working class is the most urgent task of all communists in this country. For while the imperialist aspirations of the British capitalists continue to increase in parallel with the attacks on the working class in Britain, our class is left without a political party of its own that could be capable of both organising the necessary struggles and linking them to the struggle for revolution and the rule of the working class. A lack of understanding of current social developments, opportunism, revisionism and sectarianism are widespread among most of the left, progressive and revolutionary forces in the country. Petty-bourgeois ideas are destroying progressive movements in the country. Especially since the historic defeat of socialism and the collapse of the Soviet Union, theoretical and practical confusion has hampered the building of a Communist Party. In these times, it is more important than ever to unite the building of a party with the fight against these very ideas and to tackle it together with all honest forces on the side of the working class on the basis of Marxism-Leninism.
‘Theory & Action’ aspires to contribute to this effort. This site will therefore publish contributions from the International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organisations (ICMLPO), the publications of its member parties and organisations as well as the historical documents of the Communist movement in Britain and internationally. The ICMLPO considers itself both as the successor to the principles and practice of the revolutionary periods of the First and Second Internationals, the Third International (Comintern) and the revolutionary period of the Cominform, and as an organ to continue these principles and practice.
We invite all revolutionary and progressive forces to engage in discussions with us.
